8 Brilliant Ways To Home Remedies For Hair care in Winter

by Health Fitness Galore November 1, 2021

How To Keep Hair From Drying Out In Winter?

How can i get good looking hair in winters

Home remedies for hair care in winter are really a game-changer.

Winters come not only with the holiday season, family gatherings, shopping galore, fun, and frolic but also with very dry skin and hair.

Why Do The Hair And Skin Get So Dry During Winters?

As winter approaches, the harsh weather pushes us to use more central heating, have relaxing hot water baths, and use hair dryers. As a result, we get very dry hair and scalp.

This leads to hair-related issues like hair fall, frizziness, dry itchy scalp, split ends, and brittle hair.

There are a number of chemicals in hair shampoos, conditioners, and nourishing balms that are very hazardous to us. So, it is better to read the labels or better to ditch them altogether and go for home remedies for hair care in winter. These are very easily doable.

Home Remedies For Hair Care In Winter

1. Hot Oil Treatment

This treatment not only nourishes dry, dead-looking hair but also helps in mitigating the effect of chemically treated hair.

Moreover, it seals the hair cuticle, locking in the much-needed moisture for hair bringing it back from the dead. It makes the hair look shinier and stronger.

How To Do Hot Oil Treatment?

You can take only one oil or a mix of 2 to 3 oils of your choice. Warm it up on the stove or microwave for only a few seconds. Keep a close eye on the oil while doing so.

In order to evade any skin burn, the oil shall be warm enough and not scalding hot.

To give it an extra kick, you can add a Vitamin E capsule to it.

Massage a generous amount of oil on your scalp working in a circular motion.

It is important to just use your fingertips and not the nails. As nails can damage the scalp.

Gradually, go down the tresses. (If you are a Rapunzel!:) )

You can choose among olive oil, mustard oil, tea tree oil, coconut oil, castor oil. (Use only a minimum amount of it as it’s very sticky!)

2. Banish The Use Of Hair Dryers

How to take care of hair in winter naturally

Undoubtedly, a hairdryer is the knight in the shining armor, quick to the rescue, and helps us dry our hair in cold weather in a jiffy. But, what it actually does is strip off hair cuticles from natural moisture, resulting in dry and dull hair.

This is the same reason why heating equipment is not encouraged much.

So, the best option is to air dry your hair or use a soft microfiber towel or cap or a cotton t-shirt for this purpose.

Do not use a terry cloth or cotton towel as it is coarse and rough to the hair resulting in tearing them and promoting split ends.

3. Steam It Up, Baby

Use a warm towel and wrap it around your hair for 30 minutes. Wash it off later with shampoo.

How Can You Warm Your Towel?

Take a bowl of hot water and soak the towel in it.

Wring off excess water and wrap it around your head.

Once the towel feels cold.

Repeat the cycle.

Do it for a maximum of 15 minutes a week.

You can also use a thermal cap.

Unquestionably, steaming your scalp results in enhanced blood circulation leading to increased hair growth.

4. Egg Yolk It Away

Although it sounds (and smells) nasty it does wonders to the hair and scalp in terms of home remedies for hair care in winter.

All you have to do is take the egg yolk of two eggs and whisk it off. Apply it on the hair and scalp for a good half hour. Cover it up with a hair cap.

Wash it off and enjoy shiny and silky hair.

5. Have A Silky Night’s Sleep

In winters( and in other seasons too), sleeping on a silk pillowcase will cast a long-lasting magical spell on your hair. As it helps to lock in moisture and holds the natural scalp oils in place.

6. Fan-Tea-Istic

Are you a tea person?

If the answer is a BIG YES!! Then you would be amazed to know that tea is equally awesome for hair health.

Evidently, caffeine in the tea stimulates the hair follicles increasing blood circulation and flow to the scalp.

So, do not worry this winter while enjoying a cup of tea-give a cup of tea to your hair as well and see the magic!:)

How To Apply The Tea To Your Hair?

Steep 3 to 4 tea bags of your choice (black, green, chamomile) and fill this tea-infused water in a spray bottle. Generously, apply it to your scalp and hair.

Cover it with a shower cap for half an hour and wash it off.

Enjoy shiny, smooth hair. It will also soothe away any irritation or itchiness.

7. Trim It Up (As One Of The Home Remedies For Hair Care In Winter)

Sometimes all we need to do for a healthy hair option in winters is to trim up hair a bit(or get it done at the parlor). As it weighs down our hair, so for good-looking hair in winter we have to cut it up a bit.

Do not get a heavy heart on it, you will regrow healthier-looking hair in no time.

8. Take Your Multivitamins

Without a doubt, our hair needs multivitamins for its health and shine. Iron, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Biotin(Vitamin H) do wonder for hair growth, strength, and health.

Take Away

Choose one or more of these home remedies for good hair in winter and flaunt healthy and glossy hair.
