11 Cool Benefits of Cardio Exercise That Will Make People Envy You

by Health Fitness Galore June 23, 2023

11 Benefits of Cardio Exercise

tips benefits of cardio exercise workout

1. Strengthens Heart Muscles

Cardio workouts are named after cardiovascular, which means heart. As a person exercises, his heartbeat fastens, strengthening the heart muscles and letting the heart pump more effectively.

2. Aids in Weight Loss

Cardio workouts help with weight loss. It is better for a person to do a cardio workout for 30 minutes five days a week; consistency is the key.

3. Improves Sleep Cycle

This is my tried-and-tested thing. Whenever I do cardio exercise, I sleep like a baby, as one of the benefits of cardio exercise is that it acts like a natural sleeping pill. Research has proven that a moderate 30 minutes of cardio improves a person’s sleep quality.

4. Strengthens the Immune System

Our body has a defense mechanism called the immune system, and it has some soldiers guarding the borders called leucocytes, or white blood cells.

One of the benefits of cardio exercises, according to research, is that within seconds of cardio exercises, the white blood cells in the blood double, triple, quadruple, or, in some cases, increase tenfold. This results in better immunity against common colds and flu.

5. Brightens up the Mood

Exercise helps to increase endorphins in the blood, which is a feel-good hormone. That is why you get extra chirpy after half an hour of jogging.

6. Antidepressant

One of the benefits of cardio exercise is that it helps reduce the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline in the blood, acting as a natural anti-depressant pill.

7. Regulates Blood Pressure

Cardiovascular exercise has been found to lower blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels and improving blood flow.

8. Optimizes Blood Sugar

A frequent cardio workout helps lower blood sugar. This can be seen if you closely monitor your blood sugar pre- and post-cardio workout sessions.

The science behind it is that when we exercise, our body takes sugar from reserve stores in the liver and muscles. Later, when the body has to restore the sugar in the reserves, it takes it from the blood, optimizing the blood sugar level.

9. Improves Bone Health

When one does cardio exercise, their bones become much denser, hence stronger.

It has been found by research that those who did cardio workouts had far greater bone health than those who did not, and they also stopped complaining of nagging bone aches.

10. Improves Memory

I have noticed that ever since I started cardio workouts. I do remember the things that I placed in what part of the drawer or wardrobe, and I was highly amazed by them.

I was figuring out what exactly had led to this improvement in my memory. On close research, I came to know that it is because of the cardio sessions I am doing on a daily basis.

11. Good for Skin

One of the benefits of cardio exercise is that it improves blood circulation, hence the shiny, supple skin. It also decreases the release of the stress hormone cortisol, which in turn helps to keep some skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis at bay.

Bottom line

Edward Stanley has said, “For those who do not make time for exercise, they will have to make time for illness.” After going through the above-mentioned benefits that a consistent cardio exercise routine does to our body, we shall adapt to this habit for a better physical and mental future. This is proven throughout the world that if we stick to a good cardio routine for five days a week, it will do wonders for us beyond our imagination, so do give it a shot.

Is low urine output dangerous?

Is low urine output dangerous? Shall I get concerned about it?

by Health Fitness Galore May 7, 2023

Is low urine output dangerous?

It is quite possible that low urine output could be dangerous, depending on what’s causing it. Oliguria

is the medical term for low urine output.
There can be a number of factors causing it:
  • Kidney disease
  • Heart disease
  • Lung disease
Find out exactly what is causing the low urine output, then deal with it accordingly.
is low urine output dangerous?

Definitions of different urine conditions

  • Oliguria= Low urine output
  • Polyuria=Excessive urine output
  • Anuria= No urine output

Importance of keeping an eye on the urine

It is a centuries-old method to check out one’s pee to ponder on his health. As you go to your physician, he surely would ask you about the color of your pee and how frequently you go to the loo. He also provides you with a urine sample collecting bottle to have a look at it under the microscope. All of this is quite helpful in tracking down the exact root of the cause.

Why do I pee so little?

Ever wondered why, although you have had almost a gallon of water, drinks, and juices and still did not feel like urinating?

Do not take it lightly. (Although the lighter the color of your urine, the better..!!:) ) It can be because of certain kidney diseases that may result in Acute Kidney Failure or Acute Kidney Injury (AKI).

Who is at risk of oliguria?

  • Those who are old.
  • Hospital-bound people.
  • Those who have dialysis.

Causes of oliguria

  • Pre-renal- A problem exists before the waste product reaches the kidney.
  • Renal- A problem exists in the kidney.
  • Post-renal- A problem exists after the waste product gets out of the kidneys.

Pre-renal causes

  • Heart disease.
  • Lung disease.
  • Kidney vascular disease.
  • Hypovolemic (Low blood volume) due to less fluid intake, liver surgery or failure, burns, sepsis, or heavy blood loss.

Renal causes

  • Side effects of medications.
  • Glomerulonephritis.
  • Acute tubular necrosis.
  • Accumulation of toxins.

Post-renal causes

  • Blocked urinary tract. The kidneys produce urine but it does not happen to pass out.
  • Kidney stones.
  • Bladder outlet obstruction.

Related Post: Benefits of Drinking Water

How to diagnose oliguria?

Through:
  • Physical exam.
  • Complete medical history.
  • Urine tests.
  • Blood tests.
  • Imaging tests like Ct scans or urinary bladder/kidney ultrasounds.

Treatments for Oliguria

Depending upon the cause, your oliguria can be treated by:
  • IV drip, if you are having diarrhea or vomits.
  • More fluids to get rid of small kidney stones.
  • Sound waves to break large kidney stones.
  • Surgery for other types of obstructions.
  • The side effect of some medicine then the doctor will lower the dose or replace it with a different one.
  • For a kidney disease- a Nephrologist will help you out. He will advise you whether you need dialysis to get toxins and extra water removed from the body or a transplant.

Points to Ponder

  • Keep an eye on the frequency and amount of pee in a day. It will help you to keep a check on your health.
  • During diarrhea and vomiting, increase your fluid intake. In order to make sure that your pee game remains strong.
  • Although you are having the right amount of fluid intake, still you are not peeing enough, then take it as a red flag and go to your doctor right away. He will run a few tests to get to know what exactly is the hurdle in the ‘free flow.’
  • Oliguria, if left untreated, may lead to anuria (no urine output). Anuria may be fatal.

Miracle of Turmeric to Marvel-9 Benefits of Turmeric

by Health Fitness Galore April 6, 2023

9 BENEFITS OF TURMERIC

9 Benefits of Turmeric

Turmeric is a flowering plant. Its botanical name is Curcuma longa. The substance that gives turmeric its characteristic properties is called “Curcumin”. You use its roots for cooking. The plant’s rhizomes (underground stems) are collected and you utilize them in either fresh or dried form.

In-ground form, it gives a deep yellow-orange powder. Turmeric powder has a mustard-like aroma and black pepper-like flavor. It is a staple spice in Asian and Middle Eastern kitchens for its distinct flavor and as a dye.

Turmeric has been a staple in Asia for centuries. It is an integral part of Ayurveda, Unani, and Chinese medicine.

In India, they used it for dyeing the robes of priests and monks. From there it got introduced to South East Asia and later to the rest of the World. In Europe, Turmeric is called “Indian Saffron” or Golden Spice. Named so because of its multiple benefits and distinctive golden yellow color.

Talking from personal experience, crows equally adore turmeric. Once I placed turmeric to be dried on my patio. Whenever I used to go, to check on it, a little would be missing. One fine day, I found the culprit. A crow was taking some away in its beak. As soon as it saw me, it flew away, and off went my precious turmeric, too.

9 BENEFITS OF TURMERIC

1. Turmeric relieves pain

I have a faded memory of my childhood when my dad had back-to-back foot injuries. This is where my Mom came in with a magic potion. She used to make olive oil and turmeric paste and would coat the ankle and foot lightly with it, followed by a bandage wrap. The next day, she would repeat the process with a fresh paste and bandage. In this way, the pain would go away without using painkillers and the foot healed completely. It was something she learned from Oriental medicine.

How does turmeric make you get rid of bone and muscle pain?

What actually happens is that it has Curcumin– the main constituent of turmeric, and is anti-inflammatory, which hastens the healing process.

How to get rid of menstrual cramps?

Are you someone who is writhing in pain during those dreadful days of the month? Then, have golden milk as a nightcap and enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep!

How to make golden milk?

  • Take a cup of milk and boil it in the pan.
  • Add half a teaspoon of turmeric as a whole or in powder form.
  • Mix it thoroughly.
  • Put it in a mug and add a teaspoon of honey to it.
  • Your cuppa golden milk is ready.

Golden Milk can be used for your post-workout cramps, after coming back from that marathon when your calves are killing you, or if you are restless and need some peace.

All these times, golden milk is your go-to.

2. Turmeric aids digestion

One of the benefits of turmeric is that it is good for digestion.

For centuries, we have used turmeric as a good digestion aid in Ayurvedic medicines. It treats Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Gastroenteritis, Acid Reflux, and Stomach Ulcers. Curcumin is the reason for nearly all its goodness as it is antibacterial, antiviral, and antimicrobial.

3. Turmeric helps reduce the risk of cancer

Curcumin in turmeric helps fight cancer by destroying its cells. Due to its antioxidant properties, it may mitigate the effects of inflammation. Research has proved that it is able to kill nearly all kinds of tumors and cancer cells.

4. Turmeric-good for osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a condition in which the bones become weak, brittle, and crumbly. It makes it a severe health condition, as it leads to compression fractures and excruciating back pain. A simple bending down to pick up a fallen piece of paper or a minor fall may lead to a fracture.

Earlier it was found only in the elderly but now because of unhealthy eating habits, this condition is getting increased in all age groups. You can avoid this condition and get new bone formation with the help of turmeric, which helps increase bone density by 7%.

5. Turmeric as an anti-depressant

According to recent studies, scientists have found that curcumin, the key ingredient of turmeric, increases serotonin and dopamine, the feel-good hormones, which in turn act as a stress buster and an anti-depressant. So, it brightens the mood and makes one chirpy. It helps treat the major depressive disorder (MDD).

6. Turmeric-let wrinkles go away!

Have you turned 20-plus and started to show signs of aging? This must devastate you!! Not to worry, turmeric is here for your rescue! Curcumin in turmeric is a powerful antioxidant. It supports the DNA and lets it repair and prevent further damage.

You must be seeing collagen as a vital ingredient in every other day and night cream. It is the main protein that gives our skin its soft, supple, and radiant look. It helps in skin tightening. Curcumin helps in the production of collagen so that our skin can get supple.

Due to its numerous skincare benefits, turmeric is being used widely in soaps, face creams, face packs, and cosmetics. It also works well in wound healing.

For centuries, Indian brides are getting ready for their big day by applying turmeric paste mixed with rosewater, sandalwood, and milk.

The bride sits in seclusion and elders of the family start applying it to her, a week before the wedding, which helps them to get brighter-looking, glowing skin.

This turmeric paste is called “Ubtan” in Hindi. It is applied to the face, arms, legs, and whole body of the bride. You must have seen a glimpse of this during some ceremony of your Indian acquaintance’s wedding.

Got interested in ubtan and want to know how to make it?

Let me give you the recipe for a DIY ubtan face and skin pack.

DIY Ubtan

  • Take 1 tablespoon each of turmeric powder, sandalwood powder, gram flour, and wheat flour.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of milk to it until it gets a smooth paste-like consistency.
  • Add a few drops of rosewater.
  • Apply to your face and body evenly.
  • Let it dry completely (it will take 30 minutes)
  • Wash it off with normal tap water.

7. Turmeric- you are the apple of my eye

Dry Eye Syndrome, glaucoma, conjunctivitis, cataracts, and other developing eye conditions can be healed by using turmeric. The antioxidant properties of curcumin help in eye health.

8. Turmeric-a brain food

When it comes to the goodness that turmeric brings to our brains, we can easily name it a super-brain food. Curcumin increases a growth factor named brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), or abrineurin.

This may lead to a decrease in age-related brain inactivity and brain illnesses, prevention of Alzheimer’s, and sharpening of memory, as well as cognitive skills.

9. Turmeric lowers cholesterol

Are your cholesterol levels really high? Then do not worry! One of the benefits of turmeric is that it lowers cholesterol levels. Incorporate turmeric into your daily diet other than switching to a healthy lifestyle.

Research-based studies have proven that turmeric lowers triglycerides and low-density lipoproteins, LDL, or bad cholesterol.

Who should not take turmeric?

As curcumin activates the increased bile secretion, doctors do not recommend it to be used by individuals who have gallstones, bile duct obstruction, and any other kind of liver dysfunction.

Cancer patients who are going through chemotherapy, or individuals who are taking anti-coagulants, shall consult with their physician about turmeric intake.

Individuals who have stomach issues like reduced bowel movement or stomach pain like in people with Crohn’s disease shall consult the doctor before taking turmeric.

Diabetes patients shall watch out while having it, as it may result in hypoglycemic conditions.

Take Away

Turmeric is a miracle herb with innumerable health benefits. It helps to heal fractures, strengthens the bones, is good for stomach health, helps in eye-related diseases, and is antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-cancerous, and anti-depressant. Not only does it help lower bad cholesterol, but it also relieves all kinds of pain. It also helps in menstrual cycle regulation, is a mood up-lifter, and is good for sharpening your intellect and memory.

You can use it in your milk or add it to your gravies or can use it as a supplement but only use it in the prescribed amount, otherwise, you can get harmful consequences.

People with chronic stomach and liver issues or those who are going under cancer treatment shall have it after taking a Doctor’s advice.

Have a cup of warm golden milk and let us know how did you like it?

9 Benefits of Fish Oil

From Head to Toe:10 Benefits Of Fish Oil For Your Entire Body

As the name indicates, fish oil is the oil derived from the tissues of oily fish. Fish oil is rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fatty Acids. Environmental Protection Agency-approved fatty fish as a source of fish oil is cold-water fish like cod, salmon, herring, mackerel, sardines, and anchovies as they contain a lesser amount of toxins.

Fish provides omega-3 oil sources, but it does not produce it itself. The omega-3 in it comes from the plankton and algae it consumes. But some fish like cod produce it in their liver, hence the cod liver oil which is quite a famous fish oil supplement worldwide.

Fish oil has omega-3 fatty acids- eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). According to WHO guidelines, one should have fatty fish twice a week to get the benefits of fish oil.

Fish Oil has a number of benefits. So, you shall take it in its original form or as a dietary supplement.

9 Benefits of Fish Oil

Benefits of Fish Oil

1. Fish oil for eyes

When I was young, my mother used to cook fish. She always stressed the fact that it will brighten my eyes. Little did I know that fish oil is, in reality, an eye candy.

One of the benefits of fish oil is that it decreases Dry Eye Syndrome (DES). DES is also called keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS)- which is a health condition in which the eyes get extremely dry, leading to irritation, redness, eye fatigue, and blurred vision.

There are many factors of DES, out of which is meibomian glands dysfunction. Meibomian glands are small glands present on the eyelid’s edge, which produce the eye oil film secretion.

Omega-3 fatty acids facilitate this gland’s proper functioning. Some research has proven that Omega-3 fatty acid is good for better eyesight.

Macular Degeneration is a condition in which the central part of the retina- the Macula degenerates, resulting in loss of central vision.

If it is age-related, then it is called age-related macular degeneration (AMD) which can lead to blindness. Omega-3 decreases the effects of AMD.

2. Fish oil for losing weight

One of the benefits of fish oil is that it is helpful for weight loss by curbing appetite. Research has proven that those people who had fish oils tend to feel fuller for two hours. According to another study, it is proven that fish oil helps to burn fat more than the fat-burning pills available on the market.

The best time to take fish oil for weight loss?

Dieticians highly recommend taking fish oil half an hour before or after a meal. But it can work in overall and belly fat loss only when you follow a healthy diet and exercise routine.

3. Fish oil for heart

Fish oil is good for heart health. It is a natural blood thinner and has antioxidants. According to research, omega-3 fatty acids may help to unclog the arteries of the heart. The American Heart Association recommends 1 gram a day of EPA and DHA for heart patients.

4. Fish oil for skin

Due to the presence of Omega-3 fatty acids, fish oil is an excellent source for treating eczema and acne. Taking fish oil on a daily basis helps fight skin cancer and the negative impacts of UV Radiation. It helps make the skin soft and smooth, baby-like.

5. Fish oil for mental health

Omega-3 in fish oil helps in fighting mild-to-moderate depression, postpartum depression, and schizophrenia. It is good for brain health and its proper functioning. You can also use it as a mood stabilizer.

6. Fish oil during pregnancy

It is important to take fish oil during pregnancy as it plays a key role in the eye, nervous system, and fetal brain formation.

Not only does it help in coping with preterm labor, pregnancy, and postpartum blues when the mother’s hormones get all messed up, but it also plays a key role in the optimal birth weight of the baby.

You shall take fish oil religiously from the beginning of 2nd trimester of pregnancy.

What is the recommended daily dose of fish oil during pregnancy?

It is recommended to take 200 mg of powerful omega-3 fatty acids daily.

7. Fish oil for inflammation

Inflammation is a natural reaction of the body to any foreign substance, which can lead to infection or any deterioration in the body. Omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil help to reduce the production of molecules and substances, which lead to inflammation.

According to research, to reduce joint inflammation because of rheumatoid arthritis,2.7 grams of Omega-3 fatty acids shall be taken daily.

8. Fish oil for liver diseases

Fish oil is really beneficial when it comes to getting rid of fatty liver, which is a prevalent condition nowadays in adults due to extremely poor food choices. Nowadays, Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver disease (NAFLD) is also quite common.

There is a theory that insufficient intake of Omega-3 fatty acids may lead to Liver Cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is the scarring of liver tissues that leads to improper liver functioning.

9. Fish oil for bones

Fish oil is really beneficial for bone health. It extends the calcium absorption in bones from food, strengthening the bones. Nowadays, when osteoporosis is common in both men and women, it can be avoided by taking fish oil’s optimal daily dose. It, in turn, helps in increasing bone mass density (BMD).

Take Away

Fish Oil is the oil taken from fish tissues. Most of the fish cannot make it on their own, rather, it comes from the plankton and algae they feed on. The benefits of fish oil are innumerable.

It is good for eyesight, helps prevent blindness, needed in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy for the development of babies’ many vital organs like the brain, nervous system, and eyes. As an inflammatory, it helps in relieving joint pain. Moreover, it is quite beneficial for treating stress and mental illnesses. It also treats the skin ailments like acne and eczema.

According to WHO, you shall take twice a fish a week to benefit from its oil. Alternatively, you can take its supplements. You shall choose fish oil supplements after going through the ingredients thoroughly as many supplements do not have the ingredients which they are vouching for.

8 Benefits of Jumping Rope to Lose Weight Fast

8 Benefits Of Jumping Rope To Lose Weight Fast

Two weeks back I was having my last slice of pizza along with a can of coke just as I bent to get hold of a piece of mushroom that rolled down on the floor realization struck me hard that my pot-belly was staring back at me. This was it, I thought now or never, and started thinking of ways to reduce weight.

As I strolled down memory lane to the park, which was just opposite my place during my childhood where I used to skip rope like crazy. This led me to think of all the benefits which my sports teacher used to tell us regarding the benefits of skipping rope (Benefits of Jumping Rope). These include a number of things, but before that, we will get ready to jump a rope.

Prerequisites for jumping rope

  • Wear a comfortable pair of joggers and sweatpants.
  • Eat a banana, which is a very good pre-workout snack.
  • Do a 5 minutes warm-up, making your muscles ready.
  • Get a hold of a rope and Jump in the air, jump in the air, jump in the air, JUMP, JUMP.
  • While jumping, keep your core muscles sucked in. Do not let them droop.

8 Benefits of Jumping Rope

1. Lose Weight Fast by Burning Calories

Jumping rope is an exercise that doesn’t cost much. A jumping rope is lightweight and space-savvy. You can even place it in a purse and get going. Unlike, a pair of dumbbells weighing as low as 0.5 kilograms can seem to be equivalent to a brick.

You can burn 10 calories a minute during jump roping as compared to 7.6 calories, which are burnt during brisk walking and 2-5 calories burnt during a minute of doing planks.

There are 239 calories in a chicken burger, so to burn it you have to jump rope for around 24 minutes a day.

2. Belly Fat Reducer

This is exactly my target area. Remember my pot belly staring back at me? Jumping rope is a type of HIIT exercise in which maximum calories are burnt, also leading to belly fat loss, which is one of the most difficult jiggly wiggly parts to get rid of.

3. Helps fight osteoporosis

Jumping ropes strengthens our bones, making them denser, which leads to you fighting osteoporosis.

4. Helps with coordination and concentration

When you are jumping rope, your brain is busy doing its work by calculating exactly when you have to take a leap after each circle and giving commands to your leg muscles to jump on the exact microseconds. This helps in developing good brain coordination and concentration.

5. Healthy Heart

As we jump rope, we start losing our breath, leading our heart to pump blood more rapidly, which makes it a very good cardio exercise that leads to a healthy, happy heart.

6. Healthy Lungs

As mentioned above, when we jump rope, we lose our breath so our lungs also work faster, leading to good pulmonary power.

7. Better Skin

Short of blush and have to go for a night out with friends. Take out your rope and jump it for 10 minutes for an instant blush and glow. Jumping rope leads to a really cool blood flow.

8. Flexible you

Flexibility is something that comes in handy many times. It improves our performance in physical activities and decreases our risk of injuries. This is exactly what jumping rope helps us with. It makes our body more flexible, and more durable. Sounds like an ad commercial.

Side_effects_of_skipping_rope_on_breasts

End Result

Jumping rope benefits are aplenty. It has many other benefits for physical and mental health but still, if something is overdone, it leads to harmful impacts. If we jump too high, we will feel pain in our knees. This condition is called Patellar Tendonitis or in Layman’s language “Jumper’s Knees”. So, calculate your jump lengths according to your strength.

11 Ways To Live A Healthy Lifestyle In 2023

How to Live a Healthy Lifestyle in 2023?11 Ways To Live A Healthy Lifestyle In 2023

Health is my expected heaven.-John Keats

If we imagine heaven then we imagine happiness, laughter, a sense of contentment, being around loved ones, flowing rainfalls, our favorite food, our favorite dress, beach, sun, and the list goes on and Keats just summed all this into one Word- Health.

Nowadays, when we are in Mid of a Pandemic which has no signs of leaving us anytime soon. According to Jeremy Farrar (who is the Director of Wellcome, a global charitable foundation that supports science to solve urgent health challenges for the betterment of overall global health.) The covid-19 pandemic is nowhere near its end. Throughout the world, new waves keep on hitting. The virus is changing its format at a crazy speed.

At such a time, only one question pops up in our minds.

How can we live a healthy lifestyle?

Do not worry!!

This is exactly why we are here and that is exactly what we are going to talk about.

There are a number of lifestyle changes that we have to imply and get out of this pandemic war, unharmed.

There is a Traditional saying that Just because you’re not sick doesn’t mean you’re healthy. Maybe, you do not have any kind of apparent sickness but you do not fall up to the criterion of being completely healthy but you feel that something is amiss in your body and soul.

Does it happen to you?

If YOU are nodding then keep scrolling down to check out how we can get ourselves on the bar of being completely healthy and living a healthy lifestyle.

1. Get rid of negativity around you

My personal goals are to be happy, healthy and to be surrounded by loved ones. – Kiana Tom

There are many times that we keep on living around people who are always mocking us, who keep on passing nasty and mean comments, stooping our morale and self-esteem so low that we start doubting ourselves and a time comes that we are always confused.

We lose our decision power but we continue living with them, tolerating the shit we go through on daily basis for the sake of love and friendship.

As time passes, this negativity around us drops by drop, brings us down, by bringing our health down. So, the best thing which is in our hands is that we have to clear out the negative energy around us and replace it with positive energy.

Sometimes, a person enters the room, brightening the day. Find such a person and make them your friend. You will surely see a surge of healthy hormones rising right away in you.

2. Take a Balanced Healthy Diet

Today, the world we live in is totally about quick fixes. We are in a hurry and we fix ourselves a quick P&J sandwich. All of us are constantly on a go. So, we do not take care of the food which goes into our mouth according to its nutritional values. As a result, we keep on feeding ourselves empty calories which keep on piling up.

If we have to live a healthy lifestyle then our top priority must be the food that we eat.

First of all, kick all the junk food (which includes burgers, Pizzas, Fried items, chocolates, soda, chips, etc.) out of your life.

Talk About Healthy Lifestyle

Some of you would be thinking then what would be lifelike without these fabulous entities? There is always a cheat day when you can have it occasionally.

A balanced diet is one that has a wide variety of goodness of adequate nutrients.

Incorporate a healthy diet in your life which includes: Proteins, Carbohydrates, Good Fats, Fibers, Minerals, and Water.

Have all the seasonal fruits and vegetables, have almonds, have meat and eggs if you are a non-vegetarian, and have legumes, beans, and pulses. If you are vegetarian, fish has plenty of health benefits in the form of omega 3-fatty acids and vitamins such as B2 and D.

To ensure good health: Eat lightly, breathe deeply, live moderately, cultivate cheerfulness, and maintain an interest in life-William Londen

Nowadays, because of the lockdown, we are not getting enough Sun as a result of which around 50 percent-70 percent of the Adult European population is Vitamin D deficient.

Fish also has Calcium, Phosphorus, and Vitamins like Zinc, Magnesium, Iron, Iodine, and Potassium in abundance.

Have milk and curd. (if you are lactose intolerant have the proper substitute for it)

One who eats plain food is healthy. Japanese Saying

Do not lose your heart that if you are having a junk-free life then it will be boring. You can make it so colorful by following all the amazing healthy recipes on the internet. Once you get hooked on a healthy lifestyle then there will be no turning back. Rest assured.

3. Drink adequate water a day

An adult human body is about 60% water.

  • The brain and heart make up about 73% water.
  • The skin makes up about 60% water.
  • Kidneys and muscles make up about 79% of water.
  • Lungs make up about 83% of water.
  • It will amaze you that even the bones make up about 31% water.
  • As a large number of our vital organs comprise high percentages of water. So, it is really important to keep us hydrated throughout the day as throughout the day through excretion, sweating, and salivating we get rid of toxins accumulated in our body as well as we get rid of our water content.11 Ways To Live A Healthy Lifestyle In 2023

This is the reason why as many as 7-8 glasses of water are highly recommended. It includes water as well as other fluid intakes.

Benefits of Drinking Water

There are a number of benefits of having water:

  • Strengthens our immune system.
  • Regulates our blood pressure.
  • Helps in Digestion.
  • Protects our vital organs.
  • Helps remove toxins and bacteria from our body through the urinary bladder.
  • Works as a carrier of oxygen and vital nutrients to all the cells of the body.
  • Aids healthy weight loss giving the sense of being satiated.
  • Brightens your skin and makes you look beautiful.
  • Cools you down.
  • Increases brain activity improving concentration, cognition, and memory.
  • Helps form saliva, tears, and mucus.
  • Helps in lubricating the joints.

4.  Incorporate Exercise into Your Daily Routine

How to Live a Healthy Lifestyle

Exercise is an activity that is scheduled, designed, and repeated to condition any particular part or the whole body which helps in improving health and maintaining fitness.

When was exercise invented?

Exercise dates back to as early as 600 B.C. when it was imposed on the Greek war soldiers to increase their war tactics, agility, flexibility, and strength.

Oldest recorded form of exercise

Yoga is said to be the oldest recorded form of exercise dating back to as early as 3300 B.C.

When did exercise become a way to live a Healthy Lifestyle

It was during the 1970s that exercise gained popularity and it became the foundation to live a healthy lifestyle.

Type of Exercises

There is 3 main type of exercises or workouts which help in improving our physical, emotional, and mental health.

Cardiovascular

Cardiovascular or Aerobic (which literally means anything involving free oxygen) is the type of exercise in which the big group of muscles is worked upon in rhythm and repetition as a result of which the heart pumps rapidly, the breathing process intensifies, increasing the blood and the oxygen flow throughout the body.

This form of workout can be of low, medium, or high intensity and varies from person to person.

Strength training

It is the kind of exercise in which we need a resistance force against which our muscles work and it is done in repetitive sets to gain its benefits.

The resistance is used in the form of free weights like dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, external weights hanging on foot or arms, and different types of resistance bands. As a result of which the muscle and bone strength increases as the name also implies. A variety of training techniques are also incorporated into it including isometrics, plyometrics, and calisthenics.

Stretching

How to Live a Healthy Lifestyle

You are trying to reach for your new china from the top kitchen shelf for the dinner party you have thrown for your colleagues but you end up cramping your toes. This scenario is exactly where stretching comes in handy.

Stretching is the kind of exercise in which we target a specific muscle group deliberately stretching it increasing flexibility, range of motion, muscle tone, and elasticity. If you do not use your muscles, they tend to shrink and tighten that was the reason you ended up cramping while reaching for stuff on the top shelf.

Importance of Warm-up and Cool-Down

Incorporating a warm-up and cool-down in your workout routine is really mandatory if you do not want to end up having muscle injury and soreness.

Warm-up

Pre-workout, a good warm-up helps blood vessel dilation as a result of which muscles get a supple oxygen supply. It is very important to be prior to a cardiovascular or aerobic workout. As we warm up, our heart rate gradually revs up, putting less pressure on heart muscles.

Cool Down

Post-workout, a good cool down and stretch help to gradually bring the heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature down. Stretching muscles after a workout help flushes out the toxins in lactic acid breaking it apart. As a result of which your muscles do not get sore, cramped, and stiff.

If you do not cool down and stop a vigorous exercise all of a sudden, you may end up feeling dizzy, light-headed, with stars in front of your eyes kind of feeling and may even faint.

You can warm up and cool down for 5 minutes each before and after a workout routine.

How many times a week shall one exercise or workout

It has been recommended by Fitness experts to exercise for 5 days a week for 30 minutes which makes 150 minutes a week of workout.

It is better to take a break of a day or two from a workout to regain and rejuvenate your energy levels but if you feel like working out every day of the week then you can do it according to your energy capacity but do not push yourself off the limits then you will end up having a lack of motivation to exercise and will take exercise as some kind of burden on yourself.

5. Sleep for 7-8 hours a day

The beginning of health is sleep. – Irish Proverb

Sleep helps us to rejuvenate our energy. Not sleeping for an ample amount of time makes us feel groggy. The term ‘Waking up on the wrong side of the bed’ did not come up for no reason. Without a proper sleep pattern, our whole day goes wasted. We end up snapping- at home, and at work which affects drastically our life.

Benefits Of Sleep

It improves our

  • immunity
  • brain health
  • heart health
  • accuracy and speed

A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book. – Irish Proverb

Bottom Line: Sleep for a good 7 to 8 hours.

6. Go out and Enjoy Nature

Whenever, I feel a bit down I go into the woods or a park and have a bit of a walk or a jog, or I just sit there on a bench sipping on my coffee, taking in whatever is happening around me, and have all my worries evaporate. I get an instant mood uplift. I feel completely refreshed.

There are a number of benefits of going outdoors and enjoying it:

It helps regulate:

  • stress hormone production

how-to-improve-skin-on-face

According to recent research, if a person takes care of himself, beautifies himself, takes bath, gets a proper haircut, cuts his nails, and takes care of his skin then he gets physical and mental wellness. There are a number of things that we can do to beautify ourselves. Skin is our biggest organ that faces the outside world.

Health is the thing that makes you feel that now is the best time of the year. -Franklin Pierce Adams

Taking care of it is very important and your skin will thank you for the compliments of your friends and family.

A Proper Skincare Regimen

A proper skincare regimen shall be followed which shall include:

Cleansing your skin

Cleanse your skin regularly at least twice a day.

It helps:

  • to maintain proper pore size.
  • make your skin look supple and shiny.
  • the anti-aging process to slow down.
  • prevention of excess oil production.

Good Health is the sister of beauty- Maltese Proverb

Toning your skin

If your skin is oily then tone it twice a day after cleansing but if your skin cannot tolerate a toner, then better skip this process.

  • Toning helps to regulate the Skin’s Ph.
  • It helps to add active ingredients like antioxidants, exfoliants, and retinoids to your daily skincare regime.
Moisturizing your skin

Moisturize your skin and body at least twice a day. Once in the morning and once at the night. So, the moisture can be kept intact throughout the day. During winter, as our skin tends to get drier moisturize it more frequently.

It helps:

  • evade breakouts.
  • slow down the signs of aging.
  • to lighten the blemishes.
  • prevent harmful environmental impacts.

He, who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything. – Arabic Proverb

Applying Sunscreen

It is a common misconception that we have to apply sunscreen just while going outside, getting exposed to Sun.

We have to apply it indoors as much as outdoors. Due to the rapidly depleting ozone layer, we are more prone to getting exposure to harmful Ultraviolet rays.

Sunscreens help prevent skin cancer, premature aging, and sunburn.

Standard window glasses do not stop UV rays from penetrating the skin which leads to dark spots, patches, blemishes, premature skin aging, and wrinkles.

There is more to skincare and health. You shall follow according to your skin type: Whether it is Oily, Dry, or Combination. Set up a daily morning and night skincare ritual.

9. Indulge in some Hobby

If you are here to look for ways to live a healthy lifestyle then indulge in a hobby or pastime. A hobby is something that we love to do in our leisure time making us happy, satisfied, and contented, resulting in putting a positive impact on our overall health and well-being.

Hobby List

Research has proven that those people who get indulged in a hobby on a daily or weekly basis are really good at fighting depression, sadness, stress, and mood swings. A hobby can be anything that makes you elated.

It can be reading books, binge-watching your favorite tv shows, gardening, throwing parties, or get-to-gathers, hiking, skipping a rope, running, jogging, or camping. Many people release their stress by cooking or painting.

10. Declutter your life

To live a healthy lifestyle, throw off all the unnecessary stuff around. Decluttering has proven as a stressbuster leading to mental well-being and health. If you are surrounded by clutter all around then you can end up being less productive.

Many people deal with anger management and stress relief by starting to clear their nightstands, clean their wardrobes, bathroom medicine cabinet, or kitchen tops and cabinets and end up feeling light and happy. Decluttering is for sure a therapy!

Decluttering Tips For Hoarders

Decluttering is a multi-dimensional word. It is not the case just with inanimate objects but also let go of negative emotions and negative people around you.

By decluttering your home, office, and life in general you will come home to a squeaky, clean home that will give you a sense of achievement.

CBD Oil 101-What’s all the hype about? (25 CBD Fun Facts Included)

by Health Fitness Galore December 26, 2022
Read along and you will get to know the first-ever emperor to use CBD for his physical and mental well-being.

What is CBD?

cannaboidal

During the last decade, people have started to take from stores a cannabis derivative named Cannabidiol (CBD) minus the ‘high’ (like marijuana)

We can now find CBD in almost everything, like:
  • Oils
  • Gummies
  • Chocolate bars
  • Cosmetics
  • Vapes
  • Dog treats

CBD is selling like hot cake.

A U.S. 2022 survey on the consumption rate of products containing CBD oil showed that out of 721 respondents ranging between 21 to 80:

  • 31% used it once a day
  • 14% several times a day
  • 27% on a weekly basis
  • 21% once in a while, for a specific reason
  • 7% on a monthly basis
During 2022, CBD products sold in the United States alone cashed in 4.17 billion U.S. dollars. The CBD market is expected to grow exponentially to 4.23 billion dollars in 4 years.

Types of Cannabis

There are two types of cannabis plants: hemp and marijuana.
Now the thing is that both contain cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). This THC is the main addictive and psychotic culprit. Luckily, hemp has a considerable amount of CBD in it. Whereas, it is quite low in THC
Ever since its legalization in 2018, CBD products are hitting online as well as at the storefront and people are buying them like crazy.
The point to notice is that as FDA or any other national organization is not regulating CBD products. So you cannot blindly trust these products. As they may contain high doses of THC and other contaminants like heavy metals or pesticides. Do not play with your health and be mindful while using CBD products.
Do you know that the US Food and Drug Administration–approved CBD product is the only one so far named Epidiolex? (Greenwich Biosciences)
Epidiolex is approved for the treatment of two types of epilepsy.
There are many claims about the potential benefits of CBD, but scientific evidence backs none of them.

Currently, many studies on CBD as a treatment are underway for multiple conditions:
  • Anxiety
  • Diabetes
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Schizophrenia

So, it is better for you to do your thorough research before starting to consume it.

With that being said, let’s have a look at the history of CBD.

History of CBD

Cannabis cultivation and old times

Nations and Cannabis

Different nations have celebrated Cannabis in different ways.

Mongols and Siberians harvested cannabis plants in 12000 BCE.
Since 6000 BCE, cannabis seeds and oils are used as a food source in China.
The first CBD-derived medicines were used by Chinese Emperor Sheng Neng in 2737 BC. He used a cannabis-infused tea (instead of CBD oil) to treat malaria, gout, and rheumatism. He also used it as a memory booster.

Queen Victoria used to have CBD for the treatment of Pre-menstrual syndrome.
India took Cannabis to a whole new level and included it in their religious ceremonies and annual celebrations from 2000 to 1000 BCE. They named it one of the five sacred plants which house a guardian angel.

It was a custom to get engorged with cannabis during weddings and other festivals to honor the God Shiva.

During the Hindu devotional meetings, bhajans, a large group will gather to consume cannabis as part of their meditation.

From India, this kind of meditation process moved to East Asia, Tibet, and Mongolia and was widely practiced in Tantric Buddhism.

The Middle East

What is CBD?

Pharaoh Ramses 11 (1279-1213 BCE) used cannabis not only in textiles but also used it as a building material as well as for skin care. He even got buried with the cannabis oils buried next to him. Later on, researchers also found other Egyptian mummies with traces of cannabis in their systems.

The Egyptians also had thorough research on cannabis, which was luckily recorded by them on scrolls that date back to 2000 BCE. They referred CBD to as shemshemet in those papyrus scrolls.
Benefits of CBD
Following the footsteps of the researchers from the Greeks, Romans, and Indians, Arab physicians also did a lot of research on cannabis and they backed its use, after noticing its multiple benefits.

From the Middle East, the detailed research of Muslim physicians traveled to other countries.

Cannabis oil was being used in the Middle East even before the birth of Christ.

The Hebrew Old Testament and Aramaic translations have Cannabis mentioned as a form of incense.

Cannabis incense used to be burnt in the Babylonian and Assyrian temples as part of religious rituals.

History of Cannabis Prohibition

So, you read about the highs of cannabis. Now, let’s check out the circumstances of its prohibition around the world that led to its lows.

The first-ever ban on the cultivation and use of cannabis was recorded during the 1300s by the emir of Joneima, Soudoun Sheikouni.

In 1787, the King of Madagascar Andrianampoinimerina announced a death sentence for any person found yielding cannabis.

In 1801, Napoleon prohibited his soldier’s cannabis consumption.

The late 1800s saw cannabis getting banned in numerous Islamic countries.

As the 20th century began, more countries, including the US, UK, and Newzealand, saw cannabis getting strong prohibition.

Discovery of CBD

As we told you earlier that hemp cultivation was banned in a number of places in the World. Still, man is a creature of interest, and his quest eventually led him to discovery of CBD.

In 1839, the study of William B. O’Shaughnessy, an Irish physician, and medical researcher, on hemp’s therapeutic effects caused outrage among the public. At the same time, it churned an interest among researchers to find out more about its medical properties.

It was primarily Shaughnessy’s studies that led us to peep into the greatness of CBD.
As organic chemistry progressed, Roger Adams was successfully able to discover cannabidiol or CBD in 1940.
discovery of cbd

He was able to isolate CBD and CBN (cannabinol) from the hemp plant. Moreover, he presumed a psychoactive chemical THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) as well.

But the discovery of THC was crowned to Raphael Mechoulam in 1964.

How can I know which CBD is best for me?

It is better that you take a trained medical professional’s advice who has an experience with CBD therapeutics. The appropriate options and dosing in which a person can take CBD depends on the individual and his condition.
You have to check out the amount of THC present in the product.

How many forms of CBD are there?

Type of CBD

Commercially, CBD comes in different forms, like:
  • Ingestible
  • Inhalation-based
  • Sublingual
  • Suppository
  • Topical
  • Transdermal

Is CBD psychoactive?

Yes, CBD is psychoactive, as it produces a neuro-calming effect on the brain. That being said, it won’t make you high or intoxicated.

CBD shares its psychoactive nature with that of caffeine, nicotine, and some pain relievers.
  • It increases serotonin (the feel-good hormone) and decreases cortisol (stress hormone) levels.
  • Helps to alleviate pain and maintain the body’s homeostasis.
  • Calms the mind and body.
  • Lowers anxiety.
  • Elevates sleepiness.

How does CBD oil work?

The Endocannabinoid system (ECS) runs throughout our body. It plays an important role in maintaining the balance of different body processes referred to as ‘homeostasis’.

Our body contains special cannabinoid receptors (cell proteins that respond to different chemicals). Further studies showed that the human body produces some chemicals known as endocannabinoids. ECS and receptors together affect health.

Cannabis happens to produce two of the main active compounds, THC, and CBD, (phytocannabinoids) which serve the same purpose as human endocannabinoids.

Now if you use CBD daily, then it interacts with your endocannabinoid system, resulting in improved health.
ECS is also present in the same way in other mammals, birds, and reptiles.

What is CBD oil?

what is CBD oil?

CBD extract is taken from the hemp plant’s specific parts that are rich in cannabidiol. This extract is in the form of an oily, thick, sticky paste. It is also known as hemp extract or hemp oil. This extract is then mixed with a carrier oil and we get CBD oil.

CBD oil is characterized by being analgesic and anti-inflammatory. People use it for alleviating chronic back pain, neuropathic pain, arthritic pain, cancer pain, and fibromyalgia.

Is it safe to use CBD oil?

Although prescription CBD oil is found great for treating epilepsy and seizures, still its side effects are also evident. The side effects include:
  • Fatigue
  • Reduced appetite
  • Diarrhea
  • Dry mouth
  • Drowsiness
It can also interact with other medications (like blood thinners).

As the CBD market is growing every passing day with no checks and balances so it may also contain less CBD and more THC than the ‘safe’ amount to be consumed. Therefore, always check with your doctor or any CBD expert before purchasing it.
According to a report issued by World Health Organization in November 2017, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential. … To date, there is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

Is CBD oil safe for children?

A purely extracted CBD oil is considered totally safe for children’s use.
Recent years have seen a massive gain in the popularity of CBD to treat children suffering from epilepsy.

In order to get the most effective CBD oil strain, always make sure to discuss it with the children’s physician before using CBD.
