Points to Consider for Naturally Wavy Hair

Wavy hair seems to be low-maintenance and easy to carry, but they are not. You have to study and learn what clicks for your naturally wavy hair.

Oiling naturally wavy hair

If you always wonder that what is the ideal frequency of oiling your wavies. Then you have two options:
1. If your scalp is very oily, then apply hair oil only once a week, that too only at the tips of the hair.
2. In case of less sebum production apply, hair oil on the roots and tips twice a week.
Which oil is the best for naturally wavy hair?
The best oil options are:
  1. Coconut oil for hot-oil treatment.
  2. Rose oil for the dry scalp only.
  3. Almond oil to be used as a leave-on product after shampooing your hair.
  4. Argan oil is to be used only at the tips of the hair for an extra sheen and moisture. UV-reflector.

Co-wash or Condition wash for wavy hair

It means that you are replacing shampoo with a sulfate-free conditioner.

You have to use a co-washing cleanser or conditioner to wash your naturally wavy hair. Do not leave the conditioner on. Wash it off thoroughly to avoid any product buildup.

Squish and Scrunch

This is the key to beautiful flowy waves. As you go for a shower and get your hair wet. Then use a conditioner and squish your hair pressing your hair a bit to get rid of extra water. Do not let it completely dry. As squishing works best in moist hair.

Later on when you get out of the shower. Use either a soft microfiber cap or a towel or a cotton t-shirt to scrunch your hair.

Ditch the Heat

Evidently, wavy hair is dry in nature. Using heating appliances makes it drier and brittle. Do not take hot water showers, it’s not meant for you.

Drying Wavy hair

Instead of using a hairdryer, air dry or diffuse your hair. Whichever method you use to dry your air, start with a plop.

Use Your Fingers as a Comb

When you air-dry your hair after a bath, you will see lovely natural tresses hanging loose. This is exactly what you need. If you will use a hairbrush, quite sadly you will lose the all-natural waves. Rather, gently use your fingers as a comb. This will hold the waves that people will envy.

Finger Coiling

In order to define the waves, finger coiling is an easy and simple way to tame your hair. For best results, do it on damp hair after a bath.

Sleep on a Satin or Silk Pillow

Using a silk or satin pillowcase or a scarf will keep your hair moisturized while you sleep. This is one of the simplest answers to how to take care of naturally wavy hair.

Keep your Naturally Wavy Hair Moisturized

Use a hair moisturizer with water as its first or second ingredient. Choose a silicone-free moisturizer or hair mask once a week for dry wavy hair.

For damaged and high porosity hair, use protein-rich products along with your hair mask. This will make your hair moisturized.

Protect Your Hair from Natural Elements

In the summers lookout for sun and chlorine and in winters look out for cold and wind. Cover your hair with a cap, hat, scarf, or umbrella.

Styling Naturally Wavy Hair

Lastly, opt for hair-styling products that are free from sulfates and silicons. Lightweight products like mousses and light gels are appropriate for styling naturally wavy hair. For best results, style your hair when they are damp or moist.
